Workshops:
Wholistic Zennis Workshops
for club level players:
2 day weekend or 5 day
midweek workshops on how tennis can become a zennis experience. The normal
competitive experience is when tennis is played from the ego and this experience
is invariably painful with its resulting emotional roller-coaster. However,
when zennis, tennis with awareness, as a process begins, a transformation
starts, whereby the competitive experience changes from a battle of egos to a
beautiful dance between friends. However, the pursuit of excellence remains as
strong. In reality, the journey towards realizing one’s true potential is
enhanced through this transformation because when the war analogy is dropped,
relaxation can happen and there is a direct correlation between relaxation and
peak performance.
Participants can expect to
be exposed to the ‘dance of tennis’, which will transform their competitive
experience and allow them to realize their full potential with a gracefulness
and effortlessness, which is truly beautiful, but more importantly, it will
provide them with a unique and infinitely more gratifying and pleasing
experience of tennis.
Teaching Workshops
for coaches and parents
We offer 2 or 5 day
workshops for large programs with numerous coaches. It is important for large
quality programs to have a uniform teaching approach of a high standard. We
will work closely with the Director of Tennis or Head professional to train a
team of coaches so that everyone is on the same page. By focusing on a
methodology and philosophy of teaching for players from beginners to
intermediates to advanced tournament players, any program can guarantee a high
quality of coaching to all their students. This is a valuable opportunity for
ambitious and conscientious programs to open a dialogue amongst their pros so
that a certain amount of uniformity can arise in their coaching program. A
program is only as good as their weakest coach and this is a wonderful
opportunity to make your weakest link immeasurably stronger, while at the same
time building team spirit and camaraderie within your program.
All aspects of coaching
will be comprehensively addressed in a systematic and commonsense way. In the
present teaching climate, too many players who can hit the ball well are
becoming coaches without any real understanding of the intricacies of how
learning takes place. Even being the number one player in the world does not
automatically qualify you to teach beginners, intermediates and other club level
players or young children. These skills need to be acquired. The better
coaches acquire these skills from years of experience, many never acquire them.
Here is an opportunity to attain a fundamental understanding of teaching
principles and at the very least open up a dialogue that will allow you to
crystallize your own teaching philosophy.
Group
Workshops for beginners,
intermediates and advanced
We offer comprehensive
high quality coaching for players of all levels. We will work daily with
beginners, intermediates and advanced players and offer a concrete plan for
players to move from one level to another. With beginners, we have developed a
‘natural’ method for teaching biomechanics that is easy and fun. This will
provide a solid foundation for consistency for players that will last a life
time. For intermediates with a solid foundation in stroke production already,
we will work on solidifying the consistency and then by understanding the basics
of point building and strategy, we will help them reach to the next level. With
the advanced players, we will design specific shot combinations and help the
players clearly understand their strengths and weaknesses and thereby help them
clearly understand what they are trying to do on the court. This will allow
them to focus only on execution during tournament play. We will also focus on
understanding the role of the mind in competitive play. By doing specific on
court drills and practice, we will help players to develop the perfect mind
state so that peak performance can happen to them. For players of all levels
mental awareness is essential throughout the journey from beginner to
world-class player. Often, the mental approach to the game is only focused on
when a player starts playing tournaments. Unfortunately, by then the damage is
often already done. How we teach beginners will determine how they deal with
the pressures and stress of competition later in life. This is a comprehensive
program that will touch on all aspects of player development.
Individual
Players of all levels Happy will evaluate your game
and consult with you about your strengths and weaknesses and what you need to do
to get to the next level. The contract period could be anywhere from one
hour to one month. Happy will travel with players for a specific period of
time and watch them compete and then put together a comprehensive program for
improvement. This could be the beginning of an advisory relationship that
could last a lifetime.
